Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

If you are searching for the look of ageless skin with a more even skin tone that has a smoother, firmer finish, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is what you are looking for. Utilizing a narrow-band of light and intense pulses, IPL permits the effective resolution of facial redness or flushing as well as improvement of photo-aged skin damage.

HOW DOES INTENSE PULSE LIGHT (IPL) WORK?

IPL is a narrow spectrum of light. This intense pulsed light selectively targets broken blood vessels and irregular pigmentation with minimal effect to surrounding tissue. The intense pulsed light energy is absorbed by the broken blood vessels, or the darkened pigmentation of the skin. The energy is converted to heat, targeting blood vessels and pulling hyper-pigmentation to the surface of the skin. Damaged blood vessels will be absorbed by the body while the hyper-pigmented skin will flake off during the exfoliation process.

how does ipl work

Selectively targeting areas such as age spots, sun spots or liver spots reduces the appearance of “aged skin” resulting in a smoother, younger more youthful look. Collagen formation is also enhanced creating a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Areas of broken blood vessels, Rosacea, and redness will also be resolved creating a smooth and more even complexion.

will ipl hurt

You will be wearing a pair of black out glasses since the IPL emits a bright light. You may feel a warm sensation as heat builds in the targeted tissue. When the pulsed light is absorbed in the target you may feel a slight pinch or snap like a rubber band. Most clients find IPL treatments to be completely tolerable.

how long does it take

We schedule an hour to treat the facial area. If larger areas are being treated then the time will be adjusted accordingly.  Consultations are included in the time to ensure you are comfortable with the process.

Is laser hair removal safe

Yes, our lasers are very safe and with multiple wavelengths, our lasers are safe for all skin types. Negative, long term health complications have not been identified or associated with laser hair removal.

How long does it take

The length of time to perform a treatment is dependent on the size of the area to be treated. A treatment can be as short as 15 minutes or take up to an hour to perform. Individual attention is given at each treatment to ensure your comfort. We don’t feel the need to rush so ample time is built into each treatment to focus on your needs

how long until i see results

Results are typically noted after your first treatment. In about 7-10 days after your procedure the hair in the treated area will shed.  The destroyed hairs will not return but other hairs entering into the growth phase start to show about the time for you to return for your next treatment; every 4 weeks for the face, every 6 weeks for the mid body and every 8 weeks for the legs

Do i need to grow my hair out before i come in

It is actually better to shave within 24 hours of your appointment.  The laser focuses in on the follicles not the hair so the shorter the better in this case.
